Dear Sri Biswas,

I regret to inform you that your maid servant dumps all the refuse of your house just in front of my house. It has grown into heaps which give forth rancid smell which is injurious to health. I am afraid it poses health hazards to all other neighbours.

May I request you to see your way in removing the garbage and asking your maid servant to deposit the refuse in the dustbin which is located a little far away from your house. In case you fail to take steps in the matter within two days, I shall write to the municipality and take legal steps.

Hope you will cooperate in the matter before I am forced to take drastic steps.

Yours faithfully, Sudhir Ghose

To Sudhir Ghose, 26, Napitpara Lane, Hooghly Dear Ghose,

Your letter dated 6th April, is to hand. I am surprised that you have written a formal letter to me accusing me of dumping the refuse of my household in front of your house. You could have told me by mouth as we meet often. However, I am sorry that the refuse is being regularly deposited at the place you mentioned. Our maid servant has been doing the same without our knowledge. The dustbin is, indeed, a little far away but! must say that the practice is bad. I have asked my wife to tell the maid servant to stop this practice immediately. In my busy preoccupations, I have not looked into the matter This poses hazards not only to the health and happiness to you and my neighbours but also to the members of my house.

But I regret the tone of your letter. A simple reminder to me during our meeting or by calling at my residence would have solved the problem.

Yours faithfully, Dhananjoy Biswas

34, Rashbehari Avenue Kolkata 5.7.2009

Dear Mithun,

I desire to visit Bihar on 10.7.2009 to see for myself the condition of the backward classes there specially in the villages of Bihar. From Newspaper reports, we know about Bihar’s backwardness, about the quarrels between castes and creeds and about the state of education and economy there. I am interested in first-hand knowledge of the State. I will very much value your company in the visit to our neighbouring State on 10 July, 2009 or on any convenient date for you.

Expecting affirmative response from your end.

Yours truly, Niladri

My Dear Niladri,

I have received your letter inviting me to accompany you in your intended visit to our neighbouring State, Bihar. Your desire to have first-hand knowledge of the State about its economy, education, castes and creeds is indeed commendable. Newspaper reports are often exaggerated or garbled. It is, indeed, regrettable we do not know about the States of Bharat directly and depend very much on second-hand information.

It would have been a pleasure and privilege for me to a accompany you in this visit, but unfortunately I shall be away for a month to my village on family matters. Please don’t take my inability amiss.

Thanking you,

Yours truly Mithun

7. Reply to your father who wanamination, 2010 computer science training after you have passed the H.S.

24, Satish Mukherjee Road, Hooghly, 10.4.2010

Dear Santu,

The results of your H.S. Examination will be published in a day or two. I am confident of your success in the examination. So you should think seriously what course of study you intend to choose after passing the Higher Secondary Examination

I think that computer science has now immense scope and opportunities for employment. There are institutes for computer science training in various parts of our province specially in Kolkata. I want you to choose this course of study and get admitted into a good institution which you can select best. If necessary, you can stay in Kolkata.

Wishing you success in life.

Dear Father,

I have received your letter dated 10.4.2010. I am now anxiously awaiting the results of my H.S. Examination. I cannot settle my mind to the subject of my future course of study.

However, your suggestions contained in your letter are being seriously considered by me. To speak frankly, I am not in favour of studying computer science. Now-a-days almost all science students are bent upon the study of computer science. There are many reputed Computer Academies and they offer good facilities. Even some of them assure jobs after the completion of course of study. But I desire to pursue higher general studies in science. If I get a good first division, I opt for Physics Honours at the Presidency College, Calcutta. Physics is my favourite subject of study; I like it and so if I get a chance at the Presidency College, I am sure I shall acquit myself well and pursue higher researches on the subject.

I hope you will appreciate my attitude and agree to my proposed pursuit. Now I look forward to my results.

With regards,

Yours truly, Santu

Subject: Increased taxes on the above holding.

Dt. 12.4.2010

Dear Sir,

In reference to your letter, Ref. No……. dated 10.4.2010 on the above subject, I beg to submit that the proposed taxes on my holding on re-assessment are almost treble the amount that I paid now. There were no additions to my holding, no alterations of the floor and no extension of the house since the last assessment. I fail to understand this huge enhancement of the taxes. I know that there has been a general enhancement of taxes in view of the rising cost and financial constraints of the Government and the Municipality. I am a retired person and live on my pension. I have no other earning member in the family. I would therefore pray to you in humble submission to lessen my burden of expenses by cutting down the taxes to appreciable extent.

I look forward to your favourable consideration on the matter.

Yours faithfully Amit Kr. Banerjee
